Leprechaun

Once upon a year ago lived a man who couldn’t let go. In Summer, when the winds were filled with warmth, he saw a little Leprechaun. The creature’s majestic skin smiled to the Sun, as its face bathed in light.

He looked pale, with white hair that danced as the wind was blowing. But, the most interesting thing was that his eyes were like dust. Shades of grey mixed with dark starlight. ”He was truly a beautiful soul.”, thought the man as he couldn’t let go.

The Leprechaun looked at the birds that were flying to the bay, so the old man tried to move away. As he reached the sacred branches of an oak, the Leprechaun heard a noise.

When their eyes met, he couldn’t believe the power he felt. Leprechaun moved his body to stare better at the old man. Silence filled the air.

”You… You, I… Sorry.” The old man barely spoke.

”Are you sorry?” There was a note of cynicism in his voice, one only a Leprechaun can awoke.

The man’s eyes darted away with amazement. ”Such wonderful creature, he must be so happy!” Leprechaun looked back at the birds, which flew away. ”They’re gone now… Lucky.” The man couldn’t understand the Leprechaun’s disappointment.

”They were just birds.”, said the old man. Now a smile came across the Leprechaun’s face. ”Yes, but they had the power to fly away. I envy them.”

At that moment, something happened to that man. The beauty of the Leprechaun suddenly melted. ”How can he not see the beauty in himself?” Thought the old man.

”You are powerful, too.”

The Leprechaun looked back at the burning Sun and slightly smiled. ”So are you and yet… You envy me.”

Years past, but the old man thought only of one thing and that was the power of a single man who can do anything he sets his mind to. He is after all, another drop of the Universe.
